The
New Chain Reference Bible, 1957
This bible’s construction is a full leather limp
binding. The case was completely detached from the
text block with numerous page repair needed. The binding
was re-backed with a new cloth spine to support the
original when re-attached, pages were flattened and
repaired using Japanese handmade paper and worn areas
of the leather re-dyed. A preservation clamshell box
was custom made for the volume in black Sturdite book
cloth a sturdy material for boxes. The titling on the
box was done in gold foil with a blocking press.
